Other Services
As a company ESS (CE) Ltd provide other services to compliment the sheet piling and king post works, as a company that is evolving with the current changes in the construction industry we pride ourselves in being able to take the last 20 years experience in civil engineering to provide assistance to our clients with other services, ensuring that ESS (CE) Ltd becomes a 'one stop shop' for projects.
Ground Anchors
ESS (CE) Limited can provide ground anchors to compliment sheet piled or king post retaining walls when the retained heights or excessive loading require this to be introduced. Ground anchors can be installed by various methods, the three main ones are:
-
Drilled and grouted using a drilling rig or an excavator mounted feed beam.
-
Pneumatic mechanical anchors can be installed using hydraulic breaker attachment.
-
Horizontal tie bars can be used when two points require anchoring between each other to provide an anchor wall arrangement .

Cofferdams
To go with the additional support provided to retaining walls by ground anchors often walers are required to be welded insitu to assist with the designed loads of the anchors, these can be provided and backed up by design along with the PFC to 'finish' of the exposed sheet piled wall.
A cofferdam is a temporary structure designed to keep water and/or soil out of the excavation in which a structure is built. When construction must take place below the water table, a cofferdam is installed to give workers a dry/safe work environment.
The word "cofferdam" comes from "coffer" meaning box, in other words a dam in the shape of a box. There are different types of cofferdam, some are used to support excavation operations on land, and some are installed in a marine environment.
Both feature quite heavily in construction activities such as basements, underground car parks, bridge abutments, pumping stations and attenuation works.
When frames are required in the cofferdam, these can consist of a welded steel frame or a proprietary hydraulic frame. Dependent upon the hire durations and the anticipated loadings during the works.
A gabion wall is a retaining wall made of stacked stone-filled gabions tied together with wire. Gabion walls are usually battered (angled back towards the slope), or stepped back with the slope, rather than stacked vertically, this requires reasonable amount of working space.

Acoustic Fence
As site are being constructed in more built up areas, the use of acoustic fences are increasingly being required as part of planning condition's, some of the fences can be up to 5.0m above ground, as the fence would act as a 'sail' in windy condition's the fence can require substantial foundations, one option for this is to take the king post idea and install a UC within a concrete bore.
